Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat for juiciness)
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • ½ tbsp black pepper

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Meat Mixture
  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. If using an egg (for extra binding), gently mix it in.
  3. Avoid overmixing—this can make the burgers tough.
Step 2: Shape the Patties
  1. Divide the mixture into 4-6 equal portions (about ½ lb each for large burgers).
  2. Gently shape them into ¾-inch thick patties.
  3. Make a small dimple in the center to prevent bulging while cooking.
Step 3: Cook the Burgers
  1. Preheat grill to medium-high (375°F-400°F).
  2. Place patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  3. Add cheese in the last minute if desired.
